Prairie Watershed Climate Program

PWCP Application
PWCP provides financial support, through OFCAF, to farmers in Manitoba to accelerate their adoption and implementation of on-farm BMPs to reduce GHG emissions, support production efficiency, sustainability and resiliency on their farm operations. To assist farmers with their adoption of new BMPs, the program offers farmers resources to support BMP implementation and provide BMP design recommendations.

The BMP's eligible under the PWCP focus on three categories:
  1. Cover Cropping
  2. Nitrogen Management
  3. Rotational Grazing

GROW-RALP Enhancement & Protection Funding

EPP Application
  • This funding is designed to encourage the enhancement, protection, and maintenance of ecologically important land within the East Interlake watershed. 
  • All project ideas are welcome.
  • Examples of previous funded projects include wetland enhancement, water retention (backflooding), buffer strips, exclusion fencing, shelterbelts, riparian enhancement, prairie establishment, reforestation, soil enhancements, and conservation contracts.
  • Please review our Funding Breakdown One-Pager for sample projects and funding amounts available. 
  • To apply, please fill out and submit the "General Stream - Expression of Interest" 

Abandoned Well Sealing Funding

  • If you have an abandoned well on your property that you would like to have permanently sealed, the EIWD may be able to offset a portion or all of the costs.
  • In order to qualify for funds, the landowner must fill out and return an application form to the EIWD office.

Tree Planter & Mulch Applicator Rental Program

  • Landowners within the EIWD may be able to rent our tree planter and/or mulch applicator, free of charge, to assist with shelterbelt plantings.
  • To rent, please fill out and return a "Rental Request Form". 

Tree Planting Projects

​Subsidized Tree Program (Less than 500 Trees)
  • Trees are sold in bundles with 10 seedlings. 
  • Each bundle is $30, making it only $3 a tree.
  • Orders are placed through the online order form on our website. 
Free Tree 2 Billion Trees (2BT) Program (More than 500 Trees)
  • Planting projects can be either shelterbelts or reforestation/afforestation projects.
  • Tree seedling cost is covered by EIWD and you may be eligible to receive additional funding.
  • EIWD provides access to a tree planter and mulch applicator.
