Seasonal Employment Opportunity

The East Interlake Watershed District (EIWD) is accepting applications from qualified individuals for seasonal Resource Assistant positions to assist with a variety of the EIWD’s programs and projects. Click HERE to download job posting. 

Duties may include:
  • Assisting with educational events and promoting the mandate of the Watershed District
  • Conducting a culvert inventory utilizing GPS surveying equipment
  • Conducting a water well inventory/drinking water education program
  • Collecting private well water samples 
  • Maintenance and/or planting of prairie restoration sites
  • Planting shelterbelts and restoring riparian areas
  • Conducting waterway and water retention project surveys
  • Various office tasks and duties

Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, a positive attitude, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of water quality issues and environmental concerns.
  • Enthusiasm for the outdoors and conservation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office computer software.
  • Experience with ArcGIS software, surveying, and/or GPS units is considered an asset.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license in good standing. Must be willing to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required to complete duties.
  • Preference may be given to post-secondary students in a related area of study and/or youth aged 16-29.

Positions will start in May and finish near the end of August 2020. Wages will be $13-15/hour, based on a 40 hour week.
